AVM Reseller Success Story - St Mary's by Creative Digital
Creative Digital Solutions strives to provide the ideal AV solution in Churches - both technically and aesthetically. At St Paul's Church in St Albans, there was a need for a dynamic system which provides clear communication throughout the Church whilst also being able to hide away into the fabric of the building.
Often, churches require custom designed hardware and in the case of St Pauls it was a necessity. A unique dual hoist screen system was made to provide maximum viewing capabilities with the ability for the screens to be wound down vertically to rest discreetly against the front pillars. When in use, the tab-tensioned screens are electronically operated via a simple touch panel control system which also turns both projectors on and off without the need for multiple handheld remote controls. The projectors themselves are Eiki LC-X71 models providing 5500 lumens and high contrast for excellent daylight image quality and, along with their unique 5-year warranty, ensure long term reliability.
Multiple relay screens, to allow the congregation seated behind pillars, were also installed.
To ensure clear visibility, four 26” Acer TFT displays were linked via a Kramer switcher-scaler with an additional two front facing monitors for viewing from the platform. This ensures that musicians and speakers can see the projected images without having to turn to the main screens. The Kramer scaler system is of benefit to the larger audio-visual set-ups in many ways. It provides simple and smooth input switching between different sources such as PC and DVD, as well as outputting synchronised images, at full XGA resolution, to the projectors and relay screens.
Single point control systems are becoming increasing popular for overall system operation. Rather than keeping numerous remote controls to hand, a single touch panel can control all equipment, switch input sources on projector and scaler device as well as provide DVD transport controls all from one unit.
The EIki MCS-1 touch panel was chosen for St Pauls, with infrared and RS-232 control. This is linked to the projectors, and via a Nikobus mains relay system, to the dual motorised screens.
CDS worked with Audio Visual Material for the supply of the solutions they recommended into these applications and the result is a great example of how a strong relationship between distributor and reseller results in the best result for the customer.
