When a vision was set in motion to create the new Visit York Information Centre - a state-of-the-art facility, featuring the latest, visitor-friendly digital technology, integrator Saville Audio Visual specified a Cayin digital signage system from AVM to deliver the content to five 65” and six 42” professional screens in the centre.
The system comprised of 6 x Cayin SMP WEB4 signage players centrally controlled by a Cayin CMS server. The server allows easy centralised control of the system but can be accessed from any PC on the network allowing maximum flexibility for controlling the system. The screens are used to provide a variety of different content formats.
Users can easily combine a display of promotional videos, images, text, flash and RSS feeds.
The system was chosen for its ease of use and flexibility. Users can either create their own layouts using a simple to use editor tool or opt to use HTML or Flash content if preferred.
Chris Morton, Visitor Services Manager at Visit York said,‘Everything we have put into the design, gift sourcing and information is planned with the visitor in mind. Our aim is to make this centre a flagship for Yorkshire and the very best information service in the country, using the latest technology – a centre of excellence.’
AVM said “We worked with the customer and dealer from the planning stage to implementation and onsite commissioning and training. We are pleased to see the Cayin system being used so effectively. We continue to support Visit York to ensure they get the most from the Cayin digital signage system.
In its first full year of trading at Museum Street, Visit York is aiming to increase visits to the Information Centre by an additional 96,000 bringing the total footfall to 336,000 – a 40% increase. It has ambitions to increase this figure to 400,000 in subsequent years.
